Apple mengenang satu tahun kepergian Steve Jobs

Gadgetan – Sebuah surat yang ditulis oleh CEO Tim Cook pada website Apple merupakan tribut untuk mengenang satu tahun meninggalnya Steve Jobs. Pada website Apple.com juga terdapat video dengan setingan hitam putih dan berdurasi 1 menit 40 detik yang berisikan pidato mantan CEO Apple tersebut.

Jika kita ingin mengenang jasa, perjuangan, dan segala sesuatu yang telah Steve Jobs capai sepertinya tidak akan ada habisnya untuk dicari, dan yang paling banyak diingat adalah saat Steve Jobs berpidato pada suatu acara di Universitas Havard dimana ia menceritakan perjuangannya mempertahankan hidup melawan penyakit yang dideritanya sejak bertahun-tahun yang lalu dan akhirnya Steve Jobs pun harus menyerah atas penyakit tersebut.

Sebuah kutipan yang cukup berkesan juga ditampilkan pada video tersebut, Steve mengatakan “It’s in Apple’s DNA that technology alone is not enough — it’s technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields us the result that makes our heart sing and nowhere is that more true than in these post-PC devices.”, kutipan tersebut diambil pada saat ia merilis iPad 2 pada bulan maret 2011, yang menjadi kemunculannya yang terakhir di depan publik. Pada website Apple, Tim Cook juga menuliskan surat dukanya untuk steve berikut isi suratnya :

“Steve’s passing one year ago today was a sad and difficult time for all of us. I hope that today everyone will reflect on his extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place.

One of the greatest gifts Steve gave to the world is Apple. No company has ever inspired such creativity or set such high standards for itself. Our values originated from Steve and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple. We share the same privilege and responsibility of carrying his legacy into the future.

I’m incredibly proud of the work we are doing, delivering products that our customers love and dreaming up new ones that will delight them down the road.

It’s a wonderful tribute to Steve’s memory and everything he stood for.”

Steve Jobs meninggal di usia 56 tahun pada tanggal 5 Oktober 2011, disebabkan oleh kanker pankreas yang telah lama dideritanya. Sebelum ia meninggal, Jobs telah menuliskan surat pengunduran dirinya dan meminta Tim Cook untuk menggantikan posisinya sebagai CEO Apple.
